About Thompson Creek Mine
The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.
In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.
Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The OpportunityWe are looking for a Mill Operator to join our Thompson Creek team. The Mill Operator Role is responsible for operating various processing equipment and maintaining efficient operations of the Mill including Crushing, Grinding, Flotation and Tailings in a safe and environmentally conscious manner supporting our Thompson Creek Mine site.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Operate and monitor the primary crushing system, including the gyratory crusher and conveying circuits.
- Monitor and control the grinding circuit, including SAG and ball mills, pumps, and associated equipment.
- Performs routine maintenance, including lubrication of the crusher system and milling equipment.
- Maintain the operational integrity of all areas in the mill; to achieve safety, environmental, quality, cost, and production targets.
- Develop an understanding of all mill circuits through training and experience.
- Performs any other responsibilities related to the Mill Operations role as required or as assigned by the Mill department.
To qualify, the following skills and experiences are required:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED.
- Working knowledge of a variety of mill circuits including Grinding, Crushing, Tailings, etc. preferred.
- Process knowledge of crushers, ball mills, floatation, and tailings systems is an asset.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting agility.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
- Ability to work rotating schedules.
- Support zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
