Machinery – Assembler

Department:

Machinery

Reports To:

Machinery Supervisor

Shift:

8:00 am – 4:30 pm (Monday‑Friday)

General Purpose of Job

The employee assembles subassemblies, accessories, and final assemblies, applying electrical and mechanical assembly skills. The assembler uses hand tools, jigs, fixtures, and power tools, achieving proficiency in multiple assembly competencies and working independently within established procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Train peers
  • Advocate for Design for Assembly and Continuous Improvement ideas
  • Perform electrical and mechanical assembly of machines and machine options
  • Troubleshoot and repair assembly errors quickly and effectively
  • Read and comprehend method sheets, work instructions, and engineering drawings
  • Provide feedback to cross‑functional manufacturing team
  • Follow directions from lead assembler and supervisor
  • Accurately prepare paperwork as assigned
  • Assist during monthly and yearly physical inventory
  • Maintain and care for all Sharp Packaging supplied tools
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned, subject to reasonable accommodations
Competencies
  • Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Write routine reports and correspondences
  • Work knowledge of operations/manufacturing systems, MRP concepts, and MS Office
  • High‑energy, self‑motivated team player with multitasking ability
  • Experience with material flow through a manufacturing facility
  • Willing to flex working hours to cover customer needs
  • Keep work areas clean following guidelines
  • Quality – Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
  • Meet productivity standards
  • Complete work in a timely manner
  • Observes safety and security procedures
Education / Experience

High School diploma or GED equivalent desired; 10+ years related experience in a technically oriented position, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
