Overview
Ameristar Perimeter Security USA, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is looking for a Mill Operator Trainee. This position will be responsible for the roll form operations and equipment of the mill to insure continuous operation during the shift.
What you will be doing- Safety, quality, priorities above all
- Focus on keeping the mill operational
- Maintain clean, safe, organized work area, 5S
- Cross training of team members on parts programming and mill set ups
- TPM of process and equipment in the area
- Coordinate daily and weekly activities with department supervisor
- Perform visual and manual quality checks of finished products
- Minimize scrap
- Work with maintenance hands on to get issues resolved in a timely manner
- High school or equivalent
- Experience in using special measuring devices, callipers, tape measure
- Work with experienced operators on equipment safety and operation
- Attention to detail
- Ability to retain information that is being taught and shown to new operator
- Demonstrate ability to meet negotiated time frames
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to document downtime through seamless reporting system to drive KPI tracking
- Good communication skills with coworkers to insure continuous flow of the mill and material handler for proper tagging of product
- Ability to think and react to schedule changes and conditions on the mill
- Ability to be a contributing and valued team member for continuous improvement activities
