The Senior Assembly Technician III will be a senior-level contributor in the production and integration of complex aerospace components and systems. This role demands expert-level proficiency in structural and mechanical assembly, blueprint interpretation, and precision tooling. We have mission critical projects involving aircraft and spacecraft systems, ensuring every part meets rigorous quality and safety standards.

Assembles complex aircraft structural components typically using large jigs or floor mounted jigs and other related tooling to conform with assembly level manufacturing requirements.

This position will play a crucial role in the production process and contribute to the company's overall performance in Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Attitude (QCDSA). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assemble large, complex aircraft structural assemblies with significant impact to overall aircraft installation requirements at end item user with provided details, subassemblies, and hardware using hand tools, power tools and fixtures.
  • Lay out and locate components in and out of jigs while monitoring and ensuring end item overall interface and critical fit requirements are maintained.
  • Perform all techniques within engineering requirements to achieve proper fit and aircraft coordinate location of details and subassemblies (e.g., shimming, trim on assembly, proper use of jigs controls), including maintaining drawing required tolerances for fastener location and related edge margins and any non-structural systems installations.
  • Demonstrate and apply advanced understanding of critical features (e.g., critical components, controlled interface points, part fit and pulldown, preload) of complex aircraft structural components to ensure end item requirements are met.
  • Perform high-precision installation of basic assembly hardware (e.g., rivets, hi-loks, bushings, grommets) to specification requirements for own installation as well as other assemblers.
  • Proficiently use complex equipment (e.g., presses, automatic riveters) as required for complex structural assemblies.
  • Provide direction, guidance, training and inspection of work products for Bench and Structural Assemblers.
  • Support cross‑training initiatives across departments.
  • Maintain clean work area, tools, and equipment.
POSITION

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION
  • High School diploma or GED required.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints required.
  • Ability to apply basic math, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to communicate verbally in one‑on‑one situations with management and co‑workers; listen to others without interrupting and get clarification when needed.
  • Ability to safely and properly use gauges, calipers, and other tools and equipment.
  • Ability to identify proper materials and supplies according to specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed; performs work independently without being prompted.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; and work within deadlines.
COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and ERP and Material Management software.

    Forklift, Slings/Cranes, FPV, or others deemed appropriate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods (up to 8‑12 hours per shift). Able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25‑50lbs regularly, and occasionally heavier weights with assistance. Must be able to tolerate exposure to manufacturing environments, including moderate noise levels, vibrations, and varying temperatures. Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required, such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
