CMM Operator​/Programmer

The general purpose of a Quality Inspector & CMM Operator is to perform first article, in-process, and final inspections that support manufacturing needs while ensuring products conform to all applicable engineering requirements and specifications. This position is also responsible for operating and maintaining the CMM.

The major functions of Quality Inspector & CMM Operator include performing a variety of inspections including First Article, in-process, and final inspections using standard measuring equipment for determining product quality, and completing all required documentation upon completion. The inspector is responsible for making informed decisions when accepting or rejecting products based on applicable specifications and engineering requirements.

Additional responsibilities include documenting inspection results according to policies and procedures including controlling the whereabouts and identification of nonconforming products discovered during the inspection process. The inspector & CMM Operator is responsible for documenting his/her time and on jobs inspected using Job Boss.

The Inspector & CMM Operator is responsible for prioritizing his/her inspection workload to support the overall organization’s goals as well as reduce and identify potential risks of potential production stoppages. He/she will also work with manufacturing personnel to explain and resolve issues discovered to be nonconforming at the time of the inspection.

The Inspector & CMM Operator will be responsible for operating, programming, and maintaining the Zeiss G2 CMM Machine with fluency in GD & T, Calypso, and CATIA annotation.

A Quality Inspector & CMM Operator must be able to fluently perform or have the following necessary skill sets:

• Ability to read blueprints
• Proficiency in GD&T
• Calypso knowledge
• CATIA annotation
• Basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
• Use and read SME and perform all layout inspections as necessary
• Experience with AS 9100 quality management system
• Experience with an effective calibration system
• CMM operations experience and/or certification

• Ensure that precision machinery is in working condition and properly calibrated
• Determine program requirements based on design and engineering specifications
• Operate precision machinery as needed

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Inspection experience and blueprint reading in a manufacturing environment may substitute for this education requirement
• Minimum of (2) years inspection experience and blueprint reading in a manufacturing environment
• Minimum of (2) years of CMM operation/programming experience (Zeiss G2 5 axis-preferred).
• Certified to operate/program CMM precision machinery is required
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for experience requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance in a standard manufacturing environment
• Ability to stand for extended periods wile performing inspections
• Ability to move throughout the manufacturing environment as required to complete inspections

Compensation commensurate with experience.
