The Assistant Claims Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the technical and operational functions of the subrogation claims team. This position ensures compliance with company standards, drives continuous improvement, manages staffing and training, and resolves complex or escalated claims disputes. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a passion for operational excellence and team development.

YOUR ROLE AT SIXT

You lead and develop a team ofclaims professionals through regular coaching, monthly team meetings, one-on-one performance reviews, and training programs while fostering a high-performance culture through goal setting, motivation, and accountability

You monitor and optimize team performance using KPIs, quality audits, and performance metrics to ensure adherence to operational, financial, and service standards while providing individualized feedback and development support

You oversee claims operations and workflow management by organizing and delegating responsibilities, ensuring clarity of roles, and maintaining compliance with internal policies, procedures, and external regulations throughout the claim lifecycle

You identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, service quality, and overall departmental effectiveness

You investigate and resolve complex claims including escalated renter disputes, analyzing claim details, determining liability, assessing damages, and negotiating settlements for property damage claims

You support strategic initiatives and talent management by collaborating with the Department Director on planning, participating in recruitment and selection processes, and attracting top talent with strong technical expertise and customer service orientation

YOUR SKILLS MATTER

  • EXPERIENCE
    You have 3-5+ years of progressive claims management experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or leadership role, including proven track record investigating and resolving complex property damage claims and disputes while managing workflows, delegating responsibilities, and overseeing compliance within a claims environment
  • EDUCATION You have a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Insurance, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY
    You have a strong understanding of claims lifecycle management, liability assessment, damage evaluation, and settlement negotiation, combined with proficiency in KPIs, performance metrics, quality audits, and data-driven decision making, knowledge of relevant industry regulations, compliance requirements, and internal policy frameworks, and experience with claims management systems and reporting tools
  • SOFT SKILLS
    You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail, superior negotiation and conflict resolution abilities, strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging various stakeholders, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and quality
  • LEADERSHIP COMPENTENCIES You have strong talent management skills including recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training program development
