The Director of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) will manage, direct, and implement strategies to maximize the project team’s abilities to recognize and mitigate safety hazards and meet or exceed environmental requirements. This includes identifying solutions to improve safety performance and oversee implementation of training and best practices that will drive safety performance and environmental compliance. An ambassador of the Manhattan brand who ensures field team performance and ethical behavior consistent with our Core Values.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure jobsite execution goals related to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) are met.
- Manage and coordinate HSE field support staff to ensure optimum project execution
- Assist in the development of project execution plans and ensure their implementation reflects the stated goals and contractual requirements
- Assist with implementation and interpretation of company health, safety, and environmental programs
- Ensure the appropriate project reporting is completed by the project teams within the agreed time frames
- Manage and develop training programs in coordination with Operations management for the improvement of all field personnel
- Oversee incident reporting, root cause analysis, and lessons learned documentation
- Manage auto liability and workers compensation claims in coordination with MPL’s insurance carriers
- Review and oversee safe driving metrics and report to Operations management
- Spends time in the field working with project teams and customer personnel, focusing on safety culture and superior safety performance
- Work with the management team to identify where improvements are necessary, create a plan to solve areas of concern, and implement the changes necessary to optimize our safety performance and environmental compliance
- Other duties as assigned
- Track record of working on Oil and Gas projects of similar size and scope, especially within the Integrity, Maintenance, and Facility construction markets
- Experience leading field teams to successful outcomes regarding HSE and environmental compliance
- Experience with HSE incident management, reporting, and documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; decision-making/problem-solving skills; and change management skills
- Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Highly motivated, self-starter, results oriented
- Bachelor’s Degree – Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- 15 years of industry experience with at least 10 years of supervisory level experience in HSE
- Must be adaptable to all types of weather conditions and be able to traverse and inspect all areas of a construction job site, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
- Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day.
- Ability to repeat the same movements.
- Ability to communicate effectively to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls.
- Ability to compose, send, and reply to emails and written correspondence.
- Must be able to lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Travel will be required (must have a valid Driver’s License).
