POSITION SUMMARYUnder the supervision of the Friend of the Court Director, manages specialized Friend of the Court caseloads, facilitates Alternative Dispute Resolution, conducts Intake Appointments, and coordinates office operations to ensure continuity in the Director’s absence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Manage all Intergovernmental (inter-state jurisdiction) Domestic Relations Cases involving minor children, including registration, enforcement, and consistent communication with clients, other jurisdictions, and intergovernmental groups and departments statewide.
- Manage all Alternative Contempt Track (ACT) Program Cases, including regular and consistent meetings with ACT Program clients to set forth and monitor compliance, creation and implementation of case service plans, attending and presenting case information at ACT Program hearings, drafting of ACT Program Orders after hearings, and managing ACT program case files.
- Conduct Friend of the Court Case Intake Appointments for incoming cases, including screening for domestic violence, collection of all required information from incoming clients, and providing Friend of the Court-specific documents and information to incoming clients.
- Facilitate sessions of Alternative Dispute Resolution for custody and parenting time disputes, including drafting of ADR agreements and obtaining all necessary signatures for entry.
- Prepare case summaries for De Novo Hearings by reviewing FOC case files and communicating with FOC case investigators to provide a complete and thorough case history to the Court.
- Act as back-up Court Recorder for Domestic Relations Referee Hearings, including scheduling hearings, recording hearings, and drafting Referee Recommendations and Court Orders post-hearing.
- Appear in court to present cases to the Judge or Referee and draft Court Orders and Case Service Plans post-hearing, as necessary.
- Assist with the filing of documents and pleadings in the appropriate location and chronological order of all Friend of the Court case files.
- Complete training and attend professional conferences as assigned by the FOC Director.
- Support FOC staff and coordinate office operations in the absence of the FOC Director.
- Collaborate with other Friend of the Court team members as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIESDemonstrated case services management capabilities with a strong ability to actively listen and build rapport with diverse populations, effective de-escalation and conflict resolution skills. Experience and demonstrated success with verbal communications and presentations – both one‑on‑one as well as in formal public speaking situations. Ability to read a computer screen for extended periods of time, ability to read and understand court and financial documents, knowledge of Microsoft programs, knowledge and adept in use of general office equipment.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEBachelor’s Degree in a human services-related field required, Master’s Degree or equivalent employment experience in a human services-related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the family services-related field with dispute resolution and case management responsibilities. Completion of 45-Hour Domestic Relations Mediation Training Preferred (required to be completed within 1 year of employment).
