Day in the Life of a PCT
  • Perform CNA duties as well as clerical duties under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) and the unit manager.
  • Assist with patient care tasks such as obtaining vital signs, assist in transporting patients, pass meal trays, deliver hygiene care and answer inquiries within the scope of practice.
  • Assist nursing staff by receiving patients at the desk, taking the patient to appropriate room, provide initial instruction; assist in transporting discharged patients and answer inquiries within the scope of practice.
  • May act as the unit’s receptionist, assign patients to rooms, alert nursing staff to patient arrival, prepare charts, order and monitor utilization of supplies needed in the unit, stock supplies and help keep nursing stations clean and organized.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Preferred

Job Requirements
  • Two (2) years of experience in acute or long-term care.
  • Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.
