Overview

Job Summary:

The Chaplain is a full member of the Health System who supports and comforts patients, family and staff as they deal with the emotional and spiritual trauma of a hospital stay.

Current Saint Francis Employees - please login to apply. This position is ECB status – requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings.

Schedule: Hours will be determined based on departmental needs and may offer flexibility. Most coverage is typically Monday through Friday between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field strongly preferred.
• Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.
• Work Experience: 0 - 6 months related experience.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment. Ability to be motivated by faith and demonstrate emotional stability. Ability to utilize PC and software applications.

• Visits all patients in assigned areas and charts all visits.
• Responds to emergency calls when on duty.
• Fulfills all duties assigned, plus extra duty when asked.
• Supports families with bereavement issues and counseling.
• Is on call for the entire hospital one night per week.
• Attends staff meetings/conferences on assigned units demonstrating interest and Pastoral Care presence in the hospital.

• Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.
• Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
