  • Oklahoma Heart Institute offers 24/7 catheterization labs, cardiac rehabilitation, and a heart failure center. OHI is involved in over 200 cutting‑edge research studies across a wide range of specialties within the system.
Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic‑based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.

  • Enter, maintain, and report all medical history, medical coding, and file claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Support patient visits: greeting patients, escorting patients to exam rooms, taking vital signs, and gathering medical information to support the reason for the visit and recommended treatment.
  • Sterilize and prepare medical instruments; ensure exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for patients; provide privacy, comfort, safety, and hygiene.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments, and equipment for all exam rooms.
  • Maintain inventory control paperwork and review orders for completeness.
  • Address and request referrals and other insurance authorizations; call pharmacies, hospitals, and labs to pass along patient information for prescriptions, x‑rays, or lab requisitions.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic EMR and Microsoft Office knowledge.
  • BLS certification required within 14 days of start.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree.
  • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program or three years of MA experience.
  • Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • For OHI clinics, EMT/Paramedics meet qualifications for hire.
