Cardiovascular Technologist I
Pay Range$32.00/hr - $45.00/hr
Responsibilities Patient Care- Provides age‑ and condition‑appropriate care to patients.
- Assists with transporting patients to and from the department.
- Delivers care in a sterile environment under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses (RNs).
- Cross‑trained in at least two of the following areas:
- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Electrophysiological monitoring
- Radiologic operation
- Scrubbing for procedures
- Assists in other areas of cardiology as directed by the manager.
- Operates radiologic and hemodynamic monitoring equipment safely and accurately.
- Uses EPIC for departmental functions, including accurate data entry.
- Performs detailed analysis and interpretation of clinical findings.
- Supports physicians with imaging and radiologic needs.
- Troubleshoots equipment and helps train staff in monitoring and scrubbing techniques.
- Assists physicians with specialized equipment, including:
- IVUS (Intravascular Ultrasound)
- Pressure wire systems
- Thrombectomy devices
- Cardiac stimulators
- Electrophysiology tools and RF energy sources
- Attends vendor‑led in‑services to learn about new equipment.
- Acts as a resource to peers and physicians for proper use of new technology.
- Supports and implements new technology protocols.
- Ensures aseptic conditions through environmental cleaning.
- Prepares procedure rooms each morning (e.g., setting up transducers).
- Communicates with the materials coordinator or supervisor regarding supply needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the CVS Manager.
- Participates in departmental and mandatory in‑services.
- Meets continuing education and competency standards.
- Completes variance reports accurately.
- Adjusts performance to meet departmental and care standards.
- Collects and presents data for process improvement initiatives.
- Attends at least one departmental in‑service per year.
Uses independent judgment to plan operations and make decisions within a complex technical environment.
Working Relationships- Interacts with patients, families, internal/external customers, and healthcare professionals.
- Frequently engages with individuals at the Director level or higher.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret clinical data.
- Exceptional organizational and prioritization abilities.
- Detail‑oriented with focus on accuracy in both clinical and numerical data.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
- Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program, or
- Documentation of Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) RCIS certification.
- Registration with:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT‑R), and/or
- Cardiovascular Credentialing International (RCIS)
- CPR Certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within one year of employment.
