Overview
The National Indian Gaming Commission's primary mission is to work within the framework created by the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) for the regulation of gaming activities conducted by tribes on Indian lands to fully realize IGRA's goals: (1) promoting tribal economic development, self-sufficiency and strong tribal governments; (2) maintaining the integrity of the Indian gaming industry; and (3) ensuring that tribes are the primary beneficiaries of their gaming activities.
DutiesThis position is located within the Department of the Interior, National Indian Gaming Commission, Compliance Division. Under the direction of the Regional Director and the Chief Compliance Officer, the Compliance Officers are responsible for monitoring the gaming activities of Indian tribes and to ensure compliance with tribal, state, and federal gaming laws and regulations.
This position will work with tribes in one of the following regions:
- Washington, DC (Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Massachusetts)
- Portland, OR (Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington)
- Phoenix, AZ (Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Southern Nevada)
- Tulsa, OK (Eastern Oklahoma, Kansas)
Compliance Officer positions are designated as Mobile Workers due to frequent travel. When not in travel status, you will work remotely from your home. You must live in, or be willing to relocate to, a state within the region you apply and are selected for. See above for states within each region.
