Financial Manager
Summary
The Controller will direct and oversee the financial activities of the corporation, direct the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, and create forecasts predicting future growth.
Duties and Responsibilities- All financial and treasury functions of the Company;
- Management of Accounting Team – Continually evaluate performance; establish and monitor goals to produce superior performance.
- Create a system of key construction industry metrics which provide managerial insights to the Executive Leadership Team.
- Direct the preparation of all financial statements, including month end statements, income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
- Coordinate with VP of Finance on month-end processes.
- Compare sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; make or oversee any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
- Leadership role in monthly Project Status reviews.
- Assist project managers with project forecasting and maintaining job budgets.
- Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the Company’s day-to-day operations.
- Assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Ensure all transactions for payroll, accounts receivable/payable, lease agreements, etc. are current and accurate.
- Ensure strong internal accounting controls are in place.
- Ensure all accounting practices follow legal guidelines and established accounting principles.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancements.
- Provide information for annual insurance audits.
- Provide information to independent audit firm.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and their application to the Business.
- Proven knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.
- Proficient in database management and accounting computer application systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required.
- Eight to ten years of progressive experience in financial management. Experience in the construction industry required.
- CPA preferred.
- Experience with ERP upgrade/migration desired.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Simultaneous and repetitive use of hands, wrists and fingers is frequently used. Movements such as stooping, twisting, bending, reaching and handling are required. Employees are frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds is required. Audio, visual and verbal functions are vital aspects to performing this position.
