Your OpportunityThe State Income Tax Manager will provide a variety of tax consulting, planning, and compliance services to a diverse range of clients operating in various sectors. The Tax practice is evolving, with mentors and training programs to grow.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Oversee state-level tax projects, including compliance and related research.
- Lead and direct a team in managing state tax compliance and advisory services for clients.
- Managing and executing state income tax compliance responsibilities.
- Monitoring and analyzing changes in state income tax laws and regulations and determining impact to the client.
- Providing complex tax review, research, planning and consulting services to diverse clients, including federal and state regulations.
- Leading or assisting with various tax planning, research, and special projects.
- Preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual state income tax provisions.
- Modeling state income tax benefits and consequences using Excel, Power
BI or Alteryx. - Writing tax technical memos to articulate issues, conclusions, and analysis.
- Developing and working with staff to create a collaborative team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline and ~6 years of related experience.
- High proficiency in state income tax code, regulations, and procedures.
- Proven track record in a professional services or tax organization.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- Ability to analyze client data and guidance and make recommendations to engagement teams.
- Ability to prioritize on multiple complex projects.
- Strong influencing skills and willingness to question existing processes.
- Willingness to travel; hybrid work environment.
- CPA qualification, or membership in a professional taxation body, or eligibility to sit for/candidate for a state bar.
