Principal Project Controls Specialist- position is with Long Term Operations (LTO) Engineered Solutions group that delivers complex projects at operating and new construction nuclear power plants. LTO works collaboratively with customers to apply strategic long-term innovative solutions to enhance operations and extend plant life beyond original design. Will lead project schedule and management activities for large, high complexity, projects. Responsible for leading cost control and management activities on complex projects and across product areas.
Identify, assess, and implement value‑add opportunities which will improve overall cost/schedule performance. Apply tools and techniques to plan work such that inefficiencies are reduced, and overall project performance is optimized. Review portfolio costs and provide reports to project management team to ensure cost performance is to plan. May lead small diverse discipline teams through project phases and may be assigned to several complex projects simultaneously.
Expected to spend ~70% of time supporting scheduling updates in Primavera P6 as required, and ~30% supporting cost evaluation, adjusting billing milestones, updating SAP as requested, etc.
- Coordinate tasks/deadlines and elevate issues to management
- Plan controls aspects of projects like project baselines and risk registers
- Use tools and techniques to consider inefficiencies for project optimization
- Apply schedule, cost and risk analytics to confirm validity of plan
- Lead schedule, cost, risk activities and communicate project requirements
- Process changes following an integrated change control process
- Review expenditures for compliance with project baselines and scope
- Maintain project metrics to ensure team, customer, and partners are informed of project status
- Develop systems, databases and procedures to ensure project understanding
- Communicate opportunities for improvement, lessons learned, and risk avoidance
- Be the project controls subject‑matter expert for internal customer's support
- Integrate goals and actions participating in matters of common concern with other teams
- Implement value‑added improvement opportunities that will improve performance
- Create and administer lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle
- 10+ years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Construction Management or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
- 6 or more years of experience in the position functional/technical area
- Primavera scheduling experience
