Overview

CDM Smith offers opportunities to work on electrical engineering projects including the design of complex power systems, observation and construction services, and power system analyses. We seek candidates who can collaborate on challenging work that positively impacts the community and leverages innovative software and programs.

Responsibilities
  • With general direction, create basic to highly complex designs of electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other similar electrical systems.
  • Perform studies of power systems and electrical calculations for electrical systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security, and other similar calculations.
  • Develop white papers and technical documentation to support the firm's technical knowledge management (TKM).
  • Perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications; update design requirements as necessary.
  • Contribute to the firm's technical knowledge management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs; submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
  • Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client RFPs; review draft proposals for adherence to regulations and best practices; meet with clients to review design needs.
  • Attend conferences and events to improve visibility of the firm’s products and services in collaboration with sales staff.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff; mentor and supervise junior engineers on project work as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • 7 years of related experience. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency varies by duties and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing power systems for water, wastewater, industrial, federal, and transit facilities.
  • Experience designing medium and low-voltage power distribution systems.
  • Familiar with industry and federal codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, NESC, IEEE, UFC, etc.).
  • Experience conducting power system analysis using software such as SKM Power Tools for Windows and ETAP.

Additional Details

Pay Range Minimum: $90,605

Pay Range Maximum: $158,579

Additional Compensation: All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.

Work Location Options: Hybrid work options may be considered for the successful candidate.

Massachusetts Applicants: It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment.

Travel: 5%
