Overview

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma

Duration: 6-Month Contract

Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience

We're seeking an accomplished licensed Professional Engineer to lead major electrical engineering initiatives within the midstream energy sector. This role offers the opportunity to make significant impact on critical infrastructure projects while providing technical leadership across our organization.

What You'll Do
  • Senior Power Engineer, as the subject matter expert for all power engineering matters, driving innovative solutions that address both current operational needs and future industry challenges. This position combines strategic technical leadership with hands-on engineering excellence, requiring both independent decision-making and collaborative teamwork.
Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership & Strategy
    • Lead sophisticated projects of major scope and complexity, providing expert guidance to engineering teams
    • Develop and implement technical standards and specifications for electrical systems, including area classification and grounding design
    • Create strategies for high-visibility, high-impact projects that drive business results
    • Influence industry trends and best practices that shape our operational approach
  • Power System Engineering
    • Conduct comprehensive power system analyses including short-circuit studies, protective device coordination, arc flash hazard assessment, harmonics analysis, voltage drop calculations, load flow studies, transient motor start analysis, and power factor correction
    • Lead electrical system reliability initiatives through root cause analysis, preventative maintenance optimization, and advanced system studies
    • Design and implement robust preventative maintenance programs for electrical systems and equipment
    • Diagnose complex electrical issues across various systems and equipment, providing expert mentorship to field support engineers
  • Standards & Compliance
    • Interpret and apply industry standards, regulatory codes, and best practices across all electrical engineering activities
    • Ensure strict compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies
    • Oversee evaluation of engineering packages to verify adherence to standards, codes, and project objectives
    • Champion safety processes and operational standards throughout the organization
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Deliver technical presentations to senior management and external stakeholders
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, develop improvement plans, and address training needs
    • Provide technical guidance that bridges engineering excellence with business objectives
    • Manage resource requirements and ensure optimal return on investment
Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology with active PE license)
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Minimum 20 years of engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry
  • Deep expertise in power system design, analysis, and troubleshooting
Preferred
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience with electrical reliability programs in pipeline or midstream operations
