Reports To: Director of Engineering, Drafting & Compliance
Target Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000/year (based on experience)
Role OverviewThe Drafting Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight for a team of drafters producing high-quality construction drawings for nationwide modular building projects. This is not a hands-on drafting role
; instead, you are accountable for the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of all drafting output. Your mission is to ensure every drawing package aligns with engineering standards, building codes, and production timelines while driving continuous improvement within the drafting function.
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of drafters, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and quality-driven culture.
- Manage workload allocation, project priorities, and team capacity to ensure all deadlines and production needs are met.
- Hire and onboard new team members, conduct performance reviews, and support professional development.
- Own the quality of all drafting output by reviewing and approving construction drawings, site-adapt packages, and shop drawings.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce rigorous drafting standards, Revit families, and QA checklists to reduce errors and rework.
- Implement review gates to ensure drawing packages are verified before external release or permitting.
- Monitor key performance metrics, including error rates, rework volume, cycle times, and throughput.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to increase efficiency across multiple projects.
- Manage the use of CAD/BIM tools (Revit, AutoCAD) and evaluate software upgrades or training needs.
- Serve as the primary liaison between drafting, Project Managers, engineering, manufacturing, and field teams.
- Coordinate on scope and deadlines to ensure drawing packages support modular construction methods and client expectations.
- Participate in design reviews to provide drafting-related insights and ensure manufacturability.
- Experience: 5+ years in drafting, design, or engineering within construction, manufacturing, or modular/prefab buildingli>
- Leadership: 2–3+ years of experience leading or supervising a drafting or design team with a focus on standards rather than daily production.
- Technical Expertise: Expert-level ability to review, redline, and QA Revit- or CAD-based construction drawings.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of building codes, construction documents, and modular building methods.
- Soft Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills with a detail-oriented approach to process improvement.
- Requirements: Full-time, on-site availability in Tulsa, OK; authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship).
- Experience with site-adapt drafting or multi-site modular construction programs.
- Background in construction permitting and multi-jurisdictional approvals.
- Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems and scaling operations in a growth-phase company.
