Job Summary:
The Functional Trainer supports Goodwill Industries of Tulsa's mission by ensuring all new and existing employees in the Retail and Processing departments are trained effectively in functional processes. This role ensures consistency, compliance, and operational excellence through the implementation and monitoring of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver functional training programs based on SOPs and policies for Retail and Processing departments.
- Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions using blended learning methods (classroom, e-learning, coaching, experiential).
- Audit and monitor adherence to SOPs and policies, providing feedback and retraining as needed.
- Collaborate with department managers and SMEs to identify training needs and update curriculum accordingly.
- Create and maintain training materials including manuals, visual aids, and online tutorials.
- Track and report training effectiveness, participation, and outcomes.
- Support Train-the-Trainer initiatives and mentor internal trainers.
- Ensure training accommodates diverse learning styles and accessibility needs.
- Stay current with industry trends and operational changes to keep training relevant.
- Maintain certifications in First Aid and CPR and administer as required.
- Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain high attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Use Microsoft Office Suite and e-learning development tools proficiently.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Associates degree required.
Minimum two years of experience in training and development, preferably in retail or operational environments.
Experience with adult learning principles and instructional design, is preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to maintain Goodwill's Drug-Free Workplace and safety-sensitive standards.
- Ability to work independently and travel between multiple sites.
- Basic proficiency with email, mobile apps, and documentation tools.
- Collaborates effectively with internal departments and external partners to support organizational goals.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity, empathy, and cultural humility.
- Demonstrates the ability to identify needs and connect individuals with appropriate support services.
- Shares information clearly, respectfully, and in a manner that fosters understanding.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust and rapport quickly.
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening.
- Upholds discretion and builds trust by handling sensitive information responsibly.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Frequent travel between sites; mileage reimbursement provided.
- Occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs.) for transporting snacks and materials.
- Flexible schedule may include early mornings or occasional weekends to align with site needs.
