Job Description

Position: Teacher Assistant

Reports to: Principal

Supervises: None

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Satisfy Every Student Succeeds Act requirements by:
    • Completed at least 2 years of study (48 hrs.) at a higher education institution, or
    • Hold an associate’s degree or higher, or
    • Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the ACT, Work Keys Assessment, or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment Test – passing score is 455, or
    • Passed the Oklahoma General Education (OGET) Test.
  • Computer and clerical skills required.
  • Good interpersonal skills with students and adults.
  • Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
    • Position Goal

    Assist the teachers with small group instruction, materials preparation, record keeping, and student supervision.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Reinforcement of math, English, reading, social studies, and science instruction.
  • Assist with individual and/or small group instruction.
  • Assist with remedial instruction.
  • Grade papers and record grades.
  • Prepare materials, clean up, and assist the classroom teacher(s), as needed.
  • Help maintain student records.
  • Help with playground and cafeteria supervision.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
    • Employment Terms

    Nine (9) month classified hourly contract.

    FLSA Qualification

    Non-Exempt.

    Jenks Public Schools Classified Evaluation.

    Physical Demands

    Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this position.

    • Stand, sit, twist, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch for extended periods.
    • Lift/move up to 20 pounds; occasional lift up to 40 pounds.
    • Reach overhead, above shoulder, or horizontally.
    • Perform repetitive use of fingers and hands.
    • Visual requirements: close, color, peripheral, depth perception, adjust focus.
    • Hearing/ speaking: adequate to exchange information.
    Position Type

    Full-Time.

    Salary

    $12.98 per hour.
