Overview
Science Teacher (Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Physics)
At KIPP Tulsa, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher to inspire and challenge scholars in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Physics. The ideal candidate will foster a love for scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving while maintaining high expectations for academic excellence and personal growth.
Responsibilities- Develop year-long, Oklahoma standards-based unit plans and lesson plans that align with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and meet the diverse learning needs of all scholars.
- Design and implement hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that promote scientific literacy and real-world application of concepts.
- Utilize assessment data, including formative and summative assessments, to modify short- and long-term instructional plans, ensuring all scholars achieve academic success.
- Incorporate laboratory investigations, technology, and project-based learning to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Collaborate with content and grade-level teams to create an environment of academic rigor, curiosity, and scientific exploration.
- Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with scholars and families to support student learning and success.
- Supervise and actively participate in daily school functions, including morning, lunch, and afternoon duties.
- Engage in school-wide events such as staff meetings, open houses, back-to-school nights, parent orientations, parent-teacher conferences, and PTO events.
- Develop individualized learning plans for scholars needing additional support and communicate these plans to families in parent meetings and conferences.
- Uphold professional responsibilities, including timeliness, consistency in meeting deadlines, and adherence to school policies and expectations.
