Job SummaryThe America Reads America Counts (ARAC) Federal Work-Study program needs dependable and enthusiastic TCC students who enjoy working with elementary school children and helping them with either reading or math skills. Each tutor spends a minimum of six hours and up to a maximum of twenty hours a week tutoring at a Tulsa Public Schools (TPS) elementary school. Previous tutoring experience is not necessary.
Reading tutors are trained and supervised by Reading Partners, a national nonprofit literacy organization that works in TPS schools. Tutors work one‑on‑one with students in the school’s reading center. ARAC math tutors are assigned to regular classrooms and work either one‑on‑one or with small groups of students and are supervised by classroom teachers.
