The Superintendent will plan, manage, and execute all aspects of assigned projects with some complexity. Responsibilities include managing material and equipment, assisting with people management, ensuring documentation is complete, and meeting project goals for timely and profitable completion. This role supports Self‑Perform work and requires travel to assigned projects.
Key Role Responsibilities - Core- Lead all aspects of the company’s safety culture, creating awareness through commitment to an injury‑free environment.
- Provide management of subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow.
- Manage and oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEO for a small project or a major portion of a larger project.
- Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work.
- Coordinate and manage the care, custody, and control of the project site.
- Lead meetings including daily stand‑up and weekly trade meetings.
- Attend, manage, and participate in appropriate progress and/or project OAC meetings.
- Create, manage, change, and implement the project’s schedule as needed, in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- Track and monitor project budget and costs using the project management system’s cost reports.
- Communicate key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and other departments.
- Follow the project filing and documentation organization system, updating drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks.
- Approve and/or record unit cost information for weekly reports and complete daily logs and tracking reports.
- Evaluate progress on self‑perform work and make adjustments as needed.
- Manage material and equipment needs for the project.
- Support MOC (Material and Other Costs) and DLSC (Dunn Logistics Service Center) procurement and approval processes.
- Assist in selecting the formwork, tools, and equipment necessary for self‑perform operations.
- Manage timecard approval to ensure accurate hours and proper cost codes.
- Ensure quality compliance through specifications, setting quality standards, in‑house QA/QC, and outside resources.
- Support project closeouts by supervising pre‑punch activities and coordinating with owners, architects, and governing authorities.
- Gain understanding of the project pursuit process and methodology.
- Participate with field operations leadership and the project team to develop a project pre‑plan and implement it throughout the project lifecycle.
- Partner with field leadership to establish field staffing for the assigned project.
- Partner with project management to identify schedule and cost impacts of project changes.
- Participate in negotiations with owners and architects for project changes.
- Participate in project review meetings, including monthly and other key meetings.
- Participate in project buy‑out meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
- Understand and apply terms of owner and subcontractor contracts.
- Identify and recruit top talent.
- Lead, support, and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn.
- Manage fairly complex stand‑alone projects from start to finish.
- Assume responsibility for management, scheduling, production, safety, and quality on the project or its portion.
- Identify, understand, and actively manage project risks.
- Utilize experience to identify problems and recommend solutions for review and implementation by the team.
- Manage deliverables provided by internal resources such as IPS and logistics.
- Participate with project team in project pursuits.
- Participate in negotiations with owners and architects to get agreement for project changes.
- Perform work accurately, completely, and timely.
- Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate presentation skills.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office.
