Job Description
Responsible for planning and procuring material requirements to drive the lowest possible overall cost, achieve year over year productivity savings, and meet inventory reduction commitments for assigned parts/vendors. Analyze and forecast market data to ensure the best price acquisition.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for goods and services.
- Ensure requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment are prepared, executed, and reviewed to meet company standards and expectations.
- Provide commodity forecast data to suppliers; establish appropriate order lot size and packaging quantities to achieve optimum material flow and inventory objectives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, monitor their performance and conformity, and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, price fluctuations, market conditions, and new products or services to make informed decisions.
- Monitor and analyze costs and find ways to reduce expenses while maintaining quality and service levels.
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
- Attend vendor lunches and dinners as well as team events occasionally to build relationships.
- Coordinate activities with the Scheduling, Manufacturing, and Engineering Departments to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Analyze market and delivery systems to determine present and future material availability.
- Expedite purchase orders and inform departments of expected delivery dates, while ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is shared with the Engineering team to make deviations as necessary.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and at least three years’ experience in business, supply chain management or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Communicates effectively in written and spoken form.
- Exhibits good decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills.
- Works with minimal supervision.
- Works effectively in a team environment.
- Works effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Physical Requirements
- Indoor professional office environment.
- Frequent exposure to manufacturing facilities with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
- Sit or stand for up to 95 percent of work hours.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
