Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital is hiring a Physical Therapist Assistant Acute Care PRN to support inpatient physical therapy, acute medical rehabilitation, and hospital-based physical therapy services. This role provides flexible PRN coverage and is ideal for a Physical Therapy Assistant with acute care experience, a hospital-based Physical Therapist Assistant, or a PTA seeking acute care rehabilitation work within a nationally recognized health system.
The Physical Therapist Assistant Acute Care PRN will assist with mobility training, functional rehabilitation, therapeutic exercises, and patient care activities directed by a licensed Physical Therapist. This acute care PTA role provides high-quality physical therapy support for patients with acute medical conditions, post‑surgical needs, complex mobility limitations, and inpatient therapy plans of care.
Key Responsibilities – Physical Therapist Assistant Acute Care PRN- Provide acute care physical therapy interventions, functional mobility support, gait training, therapeutic exercises, and rehabilitation activities under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
- Support adult patients with acute medical conditions, acute illness, post‑surgical recovery needs, and inpatient rehabilitation needs.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary acute care rehabilitation team.
- Document patient treatments, progress notes, goals, and outcomes according to hospital standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain professional conduct aligned with Vanderbilt Health values and the APTA Code of Ethics.
- Provide PRN coverage, adapt to changing patient volumes, and support weekend staffing needs in the inpatient acute care setting.
- Active Tennessee Physical Therapist Assistant license.
- Experience in acute care physical therapy, inpatient physical therapy, hospital-based physical therapy, or similar clinical settings preferred.
- Strong communication skills and clinical documentation ability.
- Ability to work flexible PRN schedules, including weekend coverage based on acute care staffing needs.
