Washington Cities Insurance Authority (WCIA) is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join our Education and Engagement team. This is an exciting opportunity to support internal and external communication strategies that inform, engage, and inspire our members.
About the RoleAs our Communications Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in shaping WCIA’s public voice. You’ll develop engaging content across multiple platforms, support staff with communication needs, and help maintain strong relationships with WCIA members. Your work will ensure consistent, high-quality messaging that aligns with our organizational goals.
This exempt position reports to the Education and Engagement Manager and involves collaboration across departments to support a wide range of communication initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, write, edit, and produce content for newsletters, blogs, alerts, podcasts, event promotions, and other communication channels.
- Partner with internal staff to create targeted outreach campaigns that support member engagement.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with WCIA members and identify ways to enhance their participation in WCIA programs.
- Conduct and analyze market research to evaluate communication strategies and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts on the style and messaging for all outward‑facing content, including website materials, marketing pieces, and training announcements.
- Monitor communications‑related technologies and recommend innovative tools and approaches.
WCIA is an association of cities, towns, and interlocal entities in Washington State that work together to offer liability protection for its members. It supplies comprehensive coverage for property and various liabilities—including auto, general, police, public officials, and errors & omissions. WCIA also helps members manage risks to reduce both the number and size of losses and to lower the costs associated with handling and litigating claims.
Job Location (Washington State)Our office is based in Tukwila, approximately 16 miles south of Seattle, WA. New hires are expected to work onsite during their initial orientation period, which can last up to six months. After successfully completing orientation, a hybrid work schedule may be an option. Fully remote employees are still required to live within Washington State.

Position Salary Range: $90,648 - $135,972 per year - full salary range.
Hiring Salary Range: $90,648 - $100,894 per year (Salary offer will depend upon years of experience, education, certifications, and/or licenses).

- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a directly related field.
- At least two years of progressive, relevant experience—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong writing, editing, and content‑creation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal staff and external members.
- Experience using analytic tools to measure communication effectiveness.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build professional relationships.
- Proficiency in relevant computer programs and communication platforms.
This role primarily involves sedentary work, with typical activities including typing, preparing materials, and participating in virtual or in‑person discussions. Some lifting, walking, stooping, driving, and overnight travel are required.
