Streetcar Operator

Salary: $20.57 per hour

Applicants must have a high school diploma/equivalent; an Associate Degree is preferred, and one year of experience in a related field. Candidates must possess a valid AZ driver's license, Class B CDL with passenger designation, the ability to pass an AZ DOT physical, and successfully complete training programs with a post‑training qualification period. They must also pass drug and alcohol testing, be re‑certified periodically on Standard Operating Procedures, and on all rules and hands‑on proficiency, write clear and concise reports, and be available to work weekends, holidays and evening hours.

This single‑level classification entrusts Streetcar Operators with the safe, on‑time operation of the Sun Link Streetcar and the provision of professional customer service while transporting the public for the City of Tucson.

• Pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations.
• Assist passengers with special needs, including boarding or de‑boarding disabled passengers.
• Provide information to passengers regarding service area.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning light rail vehicles.
• Operate track switches and provide hand signals or traffic flagging.
• Work weekends, holidays, and evening hours.
