Meridian Contracting is a heavy civil contractor supporting projects across Arizona and New Mexico. From earthwork and flood control to mining and utilities, our job sites rely on reliable equipment—and that starts with great mechanics. We’re hiring experienced Field Heavy Equipment Mechanics to keep our fleet of excavators, dozers, loaders, and graders running strong across active construction sites in Tucson and Santa Fe
. This is a mobile role requiring diagnostic expertise, problem-solving in the field, and a deep commitment to safety and uptime.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on a wide range of construction equipment

Perform field-based preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan

Conduct regular equipment inspections and safety checks per site and manufacturer standards

Maintain accurate logs of repairs, parts usage, service schedules, and field reports

Coordinate with project managers and operators to schedule service without disrupting job flow

Identify required parts and manage a field inventory of essential tools and consumables

Follow all site safety protocols and promote a safety-first culture

Support junior techs or operators by sharing expertise or troubleshooting remotely when needed

Review service tickets and coordinate mobile repair schedule with dispatch or site leads

Drive to project sites in a service truck with tools and parts on board

Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting using electronic tools or manual inspections

Complete in-field repairs or arrange for shop follow-up if needed

Submit digital service logs and flag equipment concerns for upcoming shifts

End the day by restocking parts and preparing for the next job run

Equipment repaired correctly and returned to service without rework

High availability across project fleet due to preventive maintenance

Accurate service records and clear communication with site teams

Strong field reputation for reliability, safety, and mechanical know-how

Minimal unplanned equipment downtime on active job sites

High school diploma or GED (required); technical or vocational training (preferred)

Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience repairing heavy construction equipment

Skilled in diagnostics and repairs of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems

Familiarity with major manufacturers (Cat, Komatsu, Deere, Volvo, etc.)

Able to read equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and tech sheets

Self‑motivated and comfortable working independently on job sites

Valid driver’s license and clean MVR required

Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
