Electrical Field Service Technician

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience working with motors, switch gear, transformers, controls, variable frequency drives, protective relays, and other electrical equipment. As a field service technician travel to customers in the Western US will be essential.

• Electrical installation, including but not limited to conduit, cable, low and medium voltage switch gear and electrical apparatus.
• Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of electrical and electronic systems, both indoors and outdoors.
• Working knowledge in low voltage and medium voltage ranging from 120v up to 46kv.
• Proficiency in the use of electrical test meters: DVM’s, megger, ammeters, hipot, ductor, Doble, etc.
• Able to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.
• Thorough knowledge of electrical theory, experience in AC and DC power circuits.
• General knowledge of low & medium voltage circuit breakers.
• Travel to perform regular PM’s and or emergency projects.
• Perform basic control wiring installation using schematics and wiring diagrams with little assistance.
• Provide and maintain personal tools.

• At least 3 years electrical experience desired.
• Experience related to utility companies and heavy industry a plus.
• Electrical education or certifications are a plus.
• Must have a strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have good customer relations skills and able to remain calm during stressful situations.
• Ability to work under pressure in a challenging fast-paced environment.
• Ability to take direction and act independently. Must also be able to work well with a team.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized.
• Must be a self-starter and able to make quick decisions.
• Must be willing to follow standard safety practices in performing job tasks to promote safe and efficient workmanship.
• Must show a history of being reliable and dependable. Ability to work overtime as required.
• Must be able to physically perform all required duties which may include: bending, lifting, carrying, squatting, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, or standing for prolonged periods of time.
• Be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment and work around industrial equipment.
• Be willing to travel and work in several different geographic locations (indoors & outdoors).
• Must have at least 3 years of experience operating a vehicle with a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
• Must be willing to confidently submit to the background and drug screening process.
