Smyth Industries Electrical Division is currently searching for an individual with experience as a General Laborer to help enhance our current team. We provide full-service electrical, civil, manufacturing, engineering and general contracting services for the water and reclamation industry.

The ideal candidate will foster teamwork and create a positive work environment in a fast-paced industry, while helping our Arizona clients engineer, rehabilitate, manufacture and construct water distribution and treatment infrastructure.

Smyth Industries, Inc. has been serving the water and reclamation industry throughout Arizona and the Southwest since the company’s inception as Smyth Steel Manufacturing in 1980. We’ve grown from our steel tank fabrication and specialty manufacturing origins, into a full-service water and reclamation industry General Contractor specializing in end-to-end solutions including Storage Tanks, Pump and Water Wells, Pressure and Surge Vessels, Industrial Coatings, Electrical and Controls, and Engineering.

In your job, you will have the ability to make a difference in the water and reclamation industry by:

Scope: Under supervision, the General Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of physical and skilled tasks to support operations at Smyth Industries. This role includes site preparation, material handling, equipment operation, and assisting skilled trades. Support and adhere to the Smyth Industries Policies and Procedures, Safety Compliance, and Values.

Site Preparation & Maintenance

• Clean and organize work areas; remove debris.
• Prepare sites for projects.
• Load, unload, and place materials, tools, and equipment in assigned designated areas.
• Assist with material movement and proper disposal of waste.
• Keep tools, materials, and work areas organized.

Equipment & Tool Operation

• Safely operate hand/power tools and basic equipment.
• Inspect, clean, and maintain tools and equipment.
• Follow proper setup and operating procedures for specialized equipment.

Project Assistance

• Support skilled trades and project teams as needed.
• Help with assembly, installation, and related tasks.
• Perform additional duties to ensure project success.

Communication & Teamwork

• Follow supervisor instructions and work collaboratively.
• Maintain clear, professional communication on site.
• Work efficiently to meet schedules and quality standards.

Safety & Compliance

• Adhere to safety guidelines, OSHA regulations, and site procedures.
• Wear required PPE at all times.
• Participate in safety meetings and hazard reporting.
• Follow safe practices in all environments (including heights/confined spaces).
• Maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to learn and follow instructions in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
• Required to possess a valid driver's license and legally be able to operate a company vehicle.
• Required to pass a preemployment drug screening.
• Must be able to physically perform all required duties which may include standing, walking, bending, lifting 50-pound objects, carrying 50-pound items, squatting, climbing ladders, working outdoors, exposure to weather, dust, equipment noise or standing for prolonged periods of time.
