Restaurant Maintenance Technician - Tucson, AZ

Whataburger's Restaurant Maintenance Technician role involves diagnosing service issues and performing preventive maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment, HVAC and refrigeration systems, and building interior and exterior components in assigned restaurants. The technician ensures timely and accurate completion of work orders, maintains proper part inventory, and keeps work areas clean and orderly.

• Diagnoses and repairs HVAC, cooking, beverage, and refrigeration equipment.
• Communicates continuously with Maintenance Services Company (MSC) and restaurant leadership.
• Installs equipment following company safety procedures and resolves electrical/mechanical problems.
• Maintains restaurant interior and exterior, including basic carpentry, plumbing, and intermediate electrical repairs.
• Documents quality repairs meeting work order priority and SLA.
• Assesses status of repair work, schedule, and budget for capital projects.
• Partners with Zone Lead Technician and Zone Regional Facilities Manager to ensure successful execution of service work orders.
• Provides 24/7 support to keep facilities up to brand standard.
• Outsourcing and vendor liaison, evaluating cost and schedule effectiveness, and approving third‑party work.
• Proactively plans and organizes work orders to reduce repair costs.
• Assists in implementing procedural and equipment changes to improve productivity, service, and profitability.
• Complies with national, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

• High school diploma, GED equivalent, or equivalent work experience.

• 1+ years field experience in HVAC and commercial refrigeration (required).
• 1+ years work experience in commercial kitchen equipment repair or educational equivalent (required).

• EPA or CFC certification (required).
• HVAC State Certified License (preferred).
• State‑licensed Mechanical Contractor or Journeyman’s license (required in Oklahoma).
• CFESA certification (preferred).

• Work necessary time to fulfill duties.
• Report to work timely per operational needs.
• Full‑time schedule, may work outside normal hours.
• Travel locally and long distances (including air travel) to work sites.
• Valid driver’s license, submit MVR, maintain liability insurance per Whataburger standards.

• Stand, sit, or kneel for extended periods; lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work on ladders and rooftops.
