*** Currently, there is a $3.00 per hour temporary special assignment pay for Trades Maintenance Specialist I and II staff assigned to the Pima County Jail.

***** Pima County's Facilities Management department is hiring for multiple Trades Maintenance Specialist I. These multiple positions, located at the Corrections Shop, lead, participate, or operate independently in providing journey-level maintenance, repair, diagnosis, troubleshooting, construction, fabrication, and preventive maintenance. They require technical skills, experience, and knowledge in the area of specialization, as well as training, lead, or supervisory skills and knowledge.
This role is accountable for activities and ensure services or products comply with written procedures, engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, industry standards, and statutory codes and requirements.
* This position reports to the Pima County Main Jail located at 1270 W. Silverlake Rd.
*** Essential Functions**:

* Performs skilled analysis, repair, and maintenance of equipment, systems, and vehicles;
* Leads fabrication and modifications of equipment, systems, and facilities based on verbal instructions, sketches, or technical drawings;
* Inspects, services, and maintains tools, equipment, and vehicles;
* Conducts quality-control analysis on equipment and systems, implementing necessary corrective actions for optimal performance;
* Inspects, approves, or certifies the work of others, if certified or authorized;
* Maintains detailed records of activity, operations, service, and usage for equipment, vehicles, and systems;
* Prepares oral and written activity reports and estimates for complex operations, maintenance, and special projects;
* Prepares sketches and drawings to communicate work plans to supervisors, subordinates, and contractors;
* Coordinates activities with other units, agencies, or contractors to ensure efficient resource use and minimize disruptions;
* Monitors contractor performance, including goods and services provided;
* Conducts on-the-job training for employees in the assigned work-unit;
* Manages the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with safety protocols;
* Maintains security and accountability for all tools, equipment, and materials, especially in sensitive environments (e.g., medical, law enforcement, correctional settings);
* Ensures the use of safety and personal protective equipment and implements work-site traffic control procedures;
* Oversees the maintenance and care of turf grasses, trees, and ornamental shrubs, including pest control, fertilization, and addressing plant health issues.

* Minimum Qualifications:
**** Five years of journey-level experience in building maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical.
**** OR:
**** Two years of experience with Pima County in a Trades Maintenance Technician or closely-related position as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.****(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
