Assistant Manager – Walgreens

Base pay: $17.00/hr - $20.00/hr

• Open and close the store in the absence of store management, including required systems start‑ups, cash handling, and ensuring floor and stock room are ready for the business day. Responsible for opening back door for deliveries.
• Complete product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to the safe, and provide change as requested to cash registers.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

• Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., proactive help, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).

• Hold store keys to open and close independently when management is absent.
• Assist and coach team members with the warehouse and vendor ordering process, including opening the backdoor for vendor deliveries.
• Register all sales on assigned cash register, recording scanning errors, price verifications, items not on file, price modifications, and voids.
• Assist managers with reviewing order exceptions on release day and in reverse logistics (e.g., returns, empty packages).
• Assist managers with evaluating and developing displays, including promotional, seasonal, and merchandise displays, and complete resets and revisions.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and on‑hand quantities across departments, stockroom, and overstock locations.
• Ensure the Outdate program is followed with team members.
• Make daily price changes for basic departments, ensuring proper signage for accurate product pricing and compliance with local regulations.
• Assist with bookkeeping activities such as cash reports, counts, ledgers, and bill payments.
• Assist with exterior and interior maintenance, ensuring a clean, neat store appearance and requesting repairs as needed.
• Separate food items (raw from pre‑cooked) and place products per policies (e.g., raw and frozen meats on bottom shelves). Assist with stock rotation using first‑in, first‑out.
• Possess working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
• Assist at the pharmacy outlet window as requested.
• Ensure compliance with state and local laws for regulated products (e.g., alcohol, tobacco).
• Conduct bag checks of team members before store closure.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

• Attend training and complete PPLs requested by management.

• Serve as liaison between management and non‑management team members by communicating assigned tasks when store management is absent.
• Report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management.

• One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).

• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• Consideration of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
• Valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state.
