Join Roche, where every voice matters.### ### The Position Pathology Lab Research and Early Development (PL-RED) specializes in cancer diagnostics research and early development of new technologies for the pathology field. We are responsible for feeding the product development pipeline for the clinical pathology laboratory customer area and for new tissue diagnostics in medicine. PL-RED is a cross-disciplinary department that relies on contributions from a variety of fields including biology, chemistry, physics, robotics and computer science and artificial intelligence.
As a Scientist of the Pathology Assay Team, you will use your skills as a research scientist to aid in developing new reagent formulations, new technologies for diagnostic staining, and new methods to ensure quality and sustainability in the early development process. The results of your work will enable our tissue diagnostics with improved value for stakeholders and patients, and enable greater environmental sustainability.
This is a ‘hands-on’ laboratory bench work position embedded with a team of experienced scientists. The role involves integrating into an Agile team environment where you will work as a team on shared projects. You are contributing directly to our real-world effort to provide diagnostic certainty for the life-changing decisions that our patients face.### The Opportunity
* Conducting research and development activities for products, methods, and processes, utilizing advanced scientific knowledge to define new components and identify technical challenges. You are conducting early-phase hypothesis testing for new and reformulated staining reagent
* Planning and executing assigned projects within defined scopes and goals, leveraging a thorough technical and theoretical understanding of numerous laboratory techniques. Laboratory management
* Designing and executing experiments using methodologies like Design of Experiments (DOE) and Roche AI tools to assist in data analysis and experimental optimization.
* Analyzing complex data and evaluating results to form conclusions, providing and implementing improvements for work processes or documentation.
* Contributing to the creation of intellectual property by developing potentially patentable components for systems, reagents, or processes while suggesting workflow enhancements.
* Collaborating with cross-functional technical teams under the direction of accountable scientists or Product Owners, actively sharing knowledge and expertise with others. May serve as a backup to the assigned Scrum-Master
* Participating in project planning and process updates, preparing and delivering technical presentations of results to internal and external groups.
* Monitoring all work to ensure rigorous quality standards, continuously promoting a "Quality First Time" culture and performing other duties as assigned by management.###
** Who You Are**###
* You have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Science and 8 years of relevant experience.
* Master's Degree in Science with 3 years, with or Ph.D. in Science with entry level relevant experience is also accepted### Behaviors, competencies, and qualities of the ideal applicant.
