The Water Resiliency Program at the University of Arizona, Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering is seeking candidates for Postdoctoral Research Associates to perform research on the water‑energy nexus for solar‑enabled inland desalination under the direction of Associate Professor Kerri Hickenbottom.
The Water Resiliency Program is part of the Water Reuse Consortium between the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), the University of Southern California, the University of Arizona, and the University of Nevada, Reno.

Duties & Responsibilities- Perform experimentation on pilot‑scale solar desalination system and analyze data.
- Perform modeling work on solar‑enabled desalination.
- Present research findings at scientific meetings and conferences.
- Participate in Water Reuse Consortium meetings.
- Participate in grant writing activities.
- The successful applicant is expected to have a background in membrane processes for water and wastewater treatment and a comprehensive, system‑level understanding of the interplay between water and energy systems.
- Candidates must have a background in experimental approaches and data analysis for pilot‑scale membrane‑based water treatment systems, modeling and optimization of desalination and/or energy systems, and techno‑economic assessment of advanced water treatment systems.
- PhD in Environmental Engineering. Selected applicant must have PhD conferred upon hire.
- Previous history of published research in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Previous history of conference presentations.
- Experience with laboratory management and interacting with stakeholders within and beyond the University of Arizona.
