Overview
The James
C. Wyant College of Optical Sciences invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate I. The postdoctoral position is available through an AFOSR-funded project, focusing on theoretical investigations at the interface of quantum optics, atomic physics, and many-body physics. The project explores how atomic arrays can modify and control light-matter interactions in novel regimes of cavity QED, collective atom-field interactions and nonequilibrium driven-dissipative systems.
We are a research group working on theoretical quantum optics and open quantum systems, with multiple experimental collaborations. Applicants with demonstrated expertise in theoretical AMO physics, quantum optics, or related areas are encouraged to apply.
Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
The University of Arizona has been recognized for our innovative work-life programs. For more information about working at the University of Arizona and relocations services, please note additional information is provided by the university.
Duties & Responsibilities- Perform research related to the project goals.
- Collaborate with the PI and other group members.
- Present research at scientific meetings: conferences, workshops, seminars.
- Develop an independent scientific portfolio.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
- PhD in Physics, or related areas (with a focus on quantum optics/AMO physics/QED).
- Demonstrated experience with cavity QED, many-body atomic physics, atom arrays, driven-dissipative open quantum systems is strongly preferred.
