About the Role

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting hardware and components to ensure compliance with quality standards, as well as identifying and documenting any nonconformances. This role collaborates closely with Quality Management, Production Management, and Engineering to investigate root causes and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform program and independent inspections, validations, and/or verifications of assigned items to ensure compliance to processes, procedures, and contractual obligations
  • Perform independent inspections of assigned tasks (documentation reviews, hardware inspection, assembly inspection, tests validation, etc.) using blueprints, specifications, contractual documents, visual inspection methods, and more
  • Support QC areas as a QC inspector. Areas may include receiving inspection, assembly, machine shop, electrical, welding, testing, and avionics
  • Perform inspections of simple GD&T hardware using a variety of hand and bench tools which may include various micrometers, thread gauges, depth gauges, dial indicators, drop indicators, height gauges, etc. Tools may also include optical comparators, hardness checkers, profilometers, etc., as required
  • Understand and use basic GD&T concepts such as Straightness, Flatness, Circularity, Cylindricity, Perpendicularity, and Parallelism as applicable to the job
  • Maintain accurate calibration database and location of all test equipment used and generate reports of overdue equipment for calibration and red‑tagging of any equipment that is out of calibration
  • Perform Printed Wiring Board/Assembly Inspections, to include, but not limited to soldering, staking, and conformal coat utilizing a microscope
  • Complete inspections on cable/wire harness assemblies
  • Inspect per IPC

    Certifications:

    IPC J‑STD‑001 with Space Addendum Soldering for Operators & Inspectors (CIS), Assembly of Electronic Assemblies (IPC‑A‑610), IPC/WHMA‑A620, Requirements for Cable & Wire Harness Assemblies. These certifications are not required but preferred
  • Work with devices/hardware that are Highly Sensitive Electrostatic Discharge Sensitive
  • Support Government and/or Customer Source Inspections, as required
  • Inspect work of technicians performing maintenance, modification, or repair and overhaul of aircraft and aircraft mechanical systems to ensure adherence to standards and procedures
  • Examine maintenance records and flight logs to determine if service and maintenance checks and overhauls were performed at prescribed intervals
  • Inspect new, repaired, or modified aircraft to identify damage or defects and to assess airworthiness and conformance to standards, using checklists, hand tools, and test instruments
  • Accept or reject materials or articles; identify and document non‑conformance and notify appropriate personnel of potential rejection of items
  • Troubleshoot inspection problems related to fixtures, software, drawings, documentation, or processes
  • Perform final inspection and review documentation required for end‑item shipments
  • Perform other duties as necessary
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 7 years of Quality Control experience in manufacturing
  • A minimum of 7 years of Quality Control experience in Aviation, Aerospace and Defense
  • Substantial knowledge of all Quality Control processes including AS9102 FAI processes
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience with inspecting machined parts, stamped metal parts, composite, or plastic, etc.
