Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Full Time Days at Naph Care, Inc. – located in Tucson, Arizona at Pima County Detention Center.
Naph Care is hiring a Full Time Days Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our medical staff in a correctional facility environment where security and patient care are both paramount. This unique position offers the opportunity to diagnose and treat a diverse patient population with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities- Conducting physical examinations, developing treatment plans and monitoring patients
- Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes
- Administering medications and providing instructions to patients
- Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs and medical histories
- Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services
- Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities
- Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention
- Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols while working closely with officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure safety and well‑being
- Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting pertinent information
- Conducting rounds and evaluating patients returning from off‑site treatment
- Admitting and discharging patients from the facility
- Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate)
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
- Unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in Arizona
- Current DEA registration
- Collaborative agreement with the on‑site physician
- Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred)
- Board‑recognized certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties
- Knowledge of nursing practice principles, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, and applicable health‑care laws and regulations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential information
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in a correctional facility or acute care center is a plus
- Integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a code of conduct and all facility correctional‑healthcare policies and legal requirements
- Passance of the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR, all while maintaining balance and endurance throughout a shift.
