Envoy Recruitment is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing (RN) to lead the Emergency Department at a major Level I Trauma Center in Tucson, AZ.
This position oversees the full operations of a 38‑bed Emergency Department with 2 trauma bays
, managing approximately 27,000 annual visits and 815 trauma cases per day
. The Director will lead a team of around 60 staff members
, working closely with hospital executives, physicians, and nursing leadership to ensure excellence in emergency and trauma care delivery.

Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all operational, clinical, and administrative functions within the Emergency Department
Lead and mentor nursing and clinical staff, fostering engagement, collaboration, and accountability
Ensure delivery of safe, high‑quality emergency and trauma care 24/7
Partner with hospital leadership to develop and implement strategies for departmental growth and performance improvement
Manage departmental budgets, staffing, and workflow optimization
Serve as a role model and advocate for nursing professionalism, teamwork, and patient safety
Collaborate with union representatives (NNOC) to maintain positive labor relations and operational efficiency
What You BringEducation
Required:
Associate Degree in Nursing with a Bachelors in a healthcare‑related field or BSN
Preferred:
Masters Degree (MSN or healthcare‑related field)
Experience
Minimum 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment (manager or charge nurse level)
Experience in a high‑acuity emergency or trauma setting strongly preferred
Licensure & Certifications
Active RN license in the state of practice (or eligibility to obtain)
AHA BLS certification required
Additional emergency or trauma‑related certifications preferred
