Overview

RN Lead Orthopedic Full Time Days – Up to $10,000 Bonus Based on Eligibility.

The RN Lead is a registered nurse who assists the nurse manager/director in coordination, direction, throughput and evaluation of patient care, unit activities and staff activities and performance on an assigned shift. Applies knowledge of the nursing process and professional standards of nursing in daily practice. Uses knowledge of patient requirements, growth, and development to assign and intervene effectively. Facilitates the provision of consistent care based on changing needs of patients on the unit.

Manages clinical and non-clinical activities on the unit in the absence of the unit manager/director. Coordinates all unit activities for smooth operation in the absence of the unit manager/director.

• Supports, evaluates, prioritizes, and supervises patient care and unit needs during assigned shift. Serves as designee for unit matters in nurse manager/director absence.
• Makes assignments for staff to meet patient care needs and for incoming patients. Delegates unit specific task assignments to ensure patient care and unit needs are met; monitors effectiveness and completion of unit assignments.
• Evaluates staffing by considering mix of caregivers, patient volumes (current and anticipated), patient acuity and staff availability.
• Demonstrates timely and effective communication with team members and others during shift transitions.
• Quality improvement/Patient safety: proactively improves quality of services and patient care outcomes; acts as unit champion and resource for quality initiatives; uses change management methods to support improvements.
• Provides exceptional customer service and participates in service recovery efforts during the shift.
• Teacher/Mentor: supports staff development through precepting, role modeling, and coaching; assists with quality projects and staff performance evaluations.
• Troubleshoots issues requiring immediate resolution and informs nurse manager/director of actions and outcomes.
• On non-clinical lead/charge shifts, takes patient care assignments or other roles to meet unit needs.
• Represents the unit or nursing department on committees or task forces as assigned.
• Reinforces the organization’s vision, mission, and values through behavior.

• Education
  :
  Required – Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Preferred: BSN (not required).
• Licensure
  :
  Required – Valid current Arizona Nursing License.
• Certifications
  :
  Required in area of clinical specialty within 3 years from ANCC or approved credentialing entity (e.g., CCRN for critical care).
• Experience
  :
  Required – Minimum 1 year RN clinical experience; 1 year ICU experience required (neuro ICU experience preferred).
• Skills
  :
  Use of general patient care and unit-specific equipment; ability to adapt to healthcare technology changes; effective verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge
  :
  Nurse Practice Act.

  :
  Basic computer skills.

  Ability to work variable shifts, holidays, and weekends.
