Full-time night shift hours are 7pm to 7:30am. There is a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential and an 18% night shift differential, where applicable.

Responsibilities and work environment described below are for the Neurosciences ICU (NSICU) and Burn MOSU – a 24 bed unit. You will monitor hemodynamic stability, neurological status, and ICP, and assist with procedures such as intubation, lumbar punctures, arterial line placement, central line placement, and EVD/Bolt placement. The Neurosciences unit provides advanced neurological monitoring and acute intervention through multidisciplinary teams.
Position Summary
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards, utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice. The role is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction.
Core Functions
- Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physicals with patient/family and other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments as needed and per policy.
- Formulates a plan of care, including discharge planning, based on assessment data and input from patient/family and health team. Sets realistic goals that are measurable and patient-centered. Plans care with multidisciplinary team members and updates the plan as patient needs change.
- Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. Delegates appropriately and communicates patient status to other caregivers.
- Evaluates patient and family responses to care and teaching; revises the plan of care as needed. Monitors progress toward goals and outcomes in collaboration with the care team.
- Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring legibility, timeliness and policy adherence. Records patient responses to treatment and notes physician orders accurately.
- Participates in delivering evidence-based care and may participate in clinical practice research. Supports unit leadership and the education and orientation of staff, students and families. Promotes growth by mentoring when appropriate.
- Contributes to quality outcomes and participates in improving nursing indicators. May engage in professional organizations and activities that support patient care excellence.
- In some roles, supervises staff and workflow in the department and interacts with a wide range of colleagues and external contacts to coordinate patient care.
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess a current, valid RN license in the state of practice, a temporary/interim RN license, or compact licensure. BLS certification is required. Additional certifications or continuing education may be required based on area of practice. Relevant experience in an acute care hospital setting is expected;

Note:

Preferred Qualifications
