Unit

Descriptions

4 South is a 40 bed unit offering care to a wide variety of patients. Our patient population includes post‑surgical and medical patients with multiple comorbidities. BUMCS is connected to the Behavioral Health Pavilion so we care for psych patients who require medical treatment as well. RNs in this space will truly learn something new each day and be a part of a close interdisciplinary team.

4 South prides itself on promoting a positive work culture, teamwork, and work life balance. In addition, BUMCS is currently working toward Magnet, Level 3 Trauma, and Primary Stroke designation. One unique aspect of working on 4 South is the mixture of new grad and experienced RNs which provides great support for new team members.

5 South West is a brand new 17 bed unit offering care to a wide variety of Medical Surgical and Progressive Care patients. Here you will have the unique opportunity to be a part of creating and growing a unit from the ground up. Here you will see patients with multiple comorbidities including sepsis, wound infections, respiratory conditions, and mental health needs.

RNs in this space will truly learn something new each day and be a part of a close interdisciplinary team!

We have opportunities for candidate to float between both Med Surg Units on Day shifts 7AM-7:30PM and Night shifts 7PM- 7:30AM full time with three - 12‑hour shifts per week. Enjoy an 18%-night shift differential, a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential and utilize our self‑scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage.

Banner University Medical Center South is a comprehensive academic medical center that includes an Emergency department, a state‑designated trauma center and a Behavioral Health Pavilion. We are an Arizona Department of Health Services‑accredited Cardiac Receiving Center and a Nurses Improving Care for Health system Elders‑designated senior‑friendly hospital. The hospital is staffed by physicians who are full‑time faculty of the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson and is managed by Banner Health under an operating agreement with Pima County.

Our specialty services include inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, treatment and education for diabetes, innovative geriatrics care and comprehensive orthopedics.

Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
