Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Day Shift

Registered Nurse – Day Shift (RN)

Location: Sonora Behavioral Health Hospital, Tucson, AZ

Shift: Day shift; 3 / 12 hr shifts; every other weekend; PRN available.

Essential Functions
  • Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
  • Develop and implement nursing care plans.
  • Maintain medical records and educate patients and families about health conditions.
  • Provide nursing care within the scope of nursing practice as defined by state regulations and facility policies.
  • Ensure physicians’ orders are legible and transcribed appropriately.
  • Assess patients’ status continuously and document pertinent information.
  • Notify physicians of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergencies, or medication response.
  • Complete nursing treatment plans upon admission, specific to assessed needs.
  • Apply universal precautions in patient care.
  • Accurately administer medications per ordered notes.
  • Document controlled substance medication administration.
  • Process admission and discharge efficiently and accurately.
  • Establish therapeutic rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Provide direction or coordinate unit activities as directed.
  • Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, co‑workers, and others involved in inpatient treatment.
Education & Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited nursing school.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment or eligible to practice in accordance with state requirements.
  • One year of nursing experience; prior psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance abuse nursing experience is a plus.
  • CPR, de‑escalation, and restraint certification required (training provided upon hire).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
