Location: Office in Tucson, AZ (Reports to Southwest Divisional Headquarters in Phoenix, AZ)
Status: EXEMPT / Rate of Pay: $100,000 - $105,000 per year

Position SummaryThe Director of Gift Planning (“DGP”) leads, develops, implements, and coordinates all phases of the Gift Planning Program within their assigned Divisional coverage area to achieve the goals set for identifying and establishing gift commitments.
Qualifications- A strong desire to help and impact others (donors) in achieving their philanthropic goals.
- A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales, finance, or related field. Preference for candidates with an advanced degree or certification such as CFP, MBA, JD, CPA, or CSPG.
- Proven ability to assist donors in closing gift plans at the six‑ and seven‑figure levels.
- Ability to simplify complicated concepts in writing and verbally.
- Comfortable with technical conversations involving financial or legal concepts.
- Ability to develop creative options to present to an audience – provide choices.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Self‑motivated, articulate, people‑ and goal‑oriented, capable of working in a fast‑paced environment, maintaining poise under pressure and functioning as both team member and independent contributor.

- Professional appearance.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity about information and documentation.
- Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ready to learn CRM software.
- Ability to travel for training, conferences, and donor face‑to‑face visits.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Responsible for all gift planning activities within assigned coverage area.
- Maintain and build relationships with Corps Officers, staff, and professionals (CPAs, CFPs, Attorneys).
- Personal responsibility for 75–150 existing life‑income donors.
- Annual stewardship for all living bequest donors within area.
- Collaborate with Corps Officers, Donor Relations Directors, and Development staff to provide donors exceptional service and collaborate on site/donor visits.
- Meet minimum work product metrics defined by Senior Gift Planning Leadership.
- Make at least twelve strategic/substantive face‑to‑face visits per month.
- Create and present at least two gift‑planning proposals per week.
- Meet with all Corps Officers at least twice per year.
- Schedule one joint DRD–donor meeting per month.
- Schedule one joint Corps Officer–donor meeting per quarter.
- Year 1:
Identify or close 15+ gifts valued $2.5M–$5M. - Year 2+:
Identify or close 25+ gifts valued $5M–$10M. - Host at least one donor or advisor seminar per year.
- Report all communications and gift production in CRM and Gift Report module.
- Complete and update a multi‑channel Forecast and Marketing Plan annually based on THQ template.
- Submit FMP to THQ GP Office for integration into budget.
- Manage or staff marketing activities throughout the year as per FMP.
- Participate in monthly DGP Training call.
- Participate in annual twelve‑week training session.
- Attend annual technical training conference and related sessions.
- Attend all territorial and mentor‑scheduled training sessions.
- Work within the division’s framework, policies and organization.
- Conduct activities in line with territorial gift acceptance policies.
- Adhere to all territorial standards and policies regarding the gift‑planning program.
- Collaborate closely with TDGP on complex gift‑planning arrangements.
- Refrain from signing legal commitments on behalf of The Salvation Army.
- Refrain from personal gain from donor contacts; decline gratuities or gifts and do not allow any bequest or remainder interest to be directed to the individual representing The Salvation Army.
