Job SummaryThe Equipping Pastor’s primary role is to equip the saints for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:12). This pastor will initiate, oversee, connect, organize, and empower individuals, teams, and ministries within The Oasis Church, in alignment with the vision and direction of the elders and pastors. The Equipping Pastor will report directly to the Teaching Pastor and be held accountable by the plurality of pastors/elders.
ResponsibilitiesThe Equipping Pastor will focus on two primary areas:
Volunteer Mobilization and Discipling/Shepherding, while also carrying out general pastoral duties such as preaching occasionally, teaching, and shepherding.
- Oversee and support church ministries, ensuring the health, growth, and well‑being of ministry leaders and volunteers.
- Engage members to assist them in identifying and preparing for service opportunities
- Connect members to service opportunities such as children’s/youth ministry, worship, facilities, greeting, etc.
- Develop and implement a local/community outreach strategy, mobilizing members to serve in gospel‑centered initiatives.
- Assist in identifying and equipping members through the church’s missionary pipeline.
- Develop frameworks and pathways that help members learn to biblically and faithfully disciple others.
- Oversee and strengthen home groups by equipping current leaders with resources for teaching and leading, developing new leaders, and fostering a Christ‑centered, multi‑generational community.
- Personally engage in one‑on‑one discipleship, pastoral counseling, and ad hoc visits during life events (e.g., hospitalization, family hardship).
- Support assimilation of new members into the life and mission of the church.
- Meet the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
- Must be in agreement and affirmation of Baptist Faith and Message 2000
- Able to teach, disciple others (2 Timothy 2:2), and provide pastoral counseling
