Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure continued operation, maintenance, and repairs of all Company equipment. Develop others by assisting and training in all aspects of technical support. This includes equipment repair and maintenance, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting skills to maximize equipment uptime. Ensure that maintenance work performed maintains or improves product quality and production efficiency. Looks for areas and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Maintain plant efficiency and a safe working environment. Maintenance performance shall be consistent with company goals, business unit KPI's to include safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and customer service.
- Participate and support all Business Units including Facilities.
- As a member of the Maintenance Team provide assistance and support to equipment related problems to maximize equipment uptime and production efficiencies.
- Assist maintenance techs in the proper use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This includes generating work orders, entering and retrieving data.
- Ensure all work orders are completed on a timely basis and develop tracking tools and reports to support Maintenance KPI's.
- Develop and maintain all required preventive maintenance procedures for the plant. Train others to perform preventive maintenance and inspections during shutdowns and outages. This may require weekend and/or off shift support in response to production requirements.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager to schedule and assign maintenance, preventive maintenance, and changeover tasks using the CMMS tool.
- Develop and implement change over procedures to meet the plant guidelines.
- Train others in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills in a wide variety of machine applications in response to production requirements.
- Communicate information to Maintenance Manager and to the Production Supervisor regarding technical issues, equipment problems, and continuous improvement ideas.
- Perform and train others on the techniques of interfacing and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and PLC controlled equipment with a Laptop Computer and various plug-in modules.
- Assist and train others to troubleshoot control wiring, relay logic, motor drive circuits, control system devices, photo eyes, limit switches, proximity switches, and transducers.
- Utilize Digital Volt Meter, Megohm Meter and AMP probes to diagnose electrical problems.
- Operate and calibrate automation systems in order to provide accurate information.
- Support the Maintenance Manager in new equipment installation and start-up.
- Train welding and machine shop tasks related to repair of equipment and machinery.
- Lead the maintenance organization in developing and implementing a predictive maintenance program, including assessing historical data and utilizing equipment such as vibration analysis, infrared cameras, and pyrometers.
- Work with equipment vendors or technical representatives on rebuilds, service visits and equipment training to reduce downtime. Collaborate with Production, Quality, and support teams to problem-solve and troubleshoot machine malfunctions.
- Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic installation, repair, and service of machinery and support systems as required.
- Complete special projects as required, including design and repair work on material handling systems and other mechanical and electrical devices.
- Ensure all changes and improvements meet the Change Control Process requirements before implementation.
- Address mechanical, electrical, material and safety discrepancies as detected and report these as necessary.
- Maintain proper safety conditions of equipment and Company assets.
- Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area.
- Comply with area SOPs, Quality Assurance Parameters (QAPs), GMPs Procedures, and ISO Standards. Be knowledgeable in all required QA checks and HACCP items.
- Comply with all company safety procedures and guidelines.
- Clean and sanitize machines to meet legal and quality standards. Maintain a clean, organized work area respecting GMPs.
- Ensure that job operations maintain or improve product quality and stop and correct job operation if quality is negatively affected.
- Work daily overtime and weekends as required.
- Maintain OSHA Certified Forklift License.
- Demonstrate good attendance and effective reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension of English.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated training and experience in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, PLCs preferred. Experience in high-speed packaging, steam/boilers, air handling systems, plumbing, welding, and millwrighting is preferable. Working knowledge of hand and power tools. Ability to read blueprints, diagrams and schematics.
