QA Supervisor – 1st Shift (Manufacturing)
The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor assures compliance to company, customer, regulatory, and consumer quality requirements. The QA Supervisor directs the QA Technician staff in the QA department and provides leadership in managing quality systems for the production of food products at the Tucson site. The QA Supervisor will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws including interviewing, hiring, and training employees;
planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Shift: Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Directly supervise all QA Technicians within the Quality Department.
- Hire, responsibly direct, review, counsel all employees within the department.
- Conduct plant audits to ensure conformance to company quality standards.
- Be part of the HACCP committee and assist in quarterly HACCP verifications.
- Develop and refine plant measurement techniques, including documentation of testing procedures, identification of sample points, frequency of data collection, record keeping, and data analysis.
- Provide leadership in the resolution of plant quality issues by conferring with QA techs, production personnel, maintenance, engineering, and research and development.
- Train and implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques in plant procedures.
- Review and ensure compliance with plant GMPs, sanitation, and pest control procedures.
- Maintain written product specifications for all products and plant compliance.
- Perform daily quality evaluations including flavor, color, and texture of daily production.
- Execute daily production record review as needed.
- Provide a resource for the investigation and follow-up of ingredient and supplier issues.
- Assist with training of new and existing employees on food safety and quality programs.
- Provide support and training to production employees regarding QA procedures within the production department.
- Review and verify production calibration file (TID pressure gauges, etc.) and work with QA Manager in resolution of any deviations.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is properly calibrated and functioning within specified parameters.
- Assist with annual glass/plastic audit, metal detector timing, and magnet strength tests, and other tasks as assigned.
- Evaluate any risks and follow-up actions associated with foreign material reports and resolve any risk.
- Work as liaison for Non-Conforming Material Report (NCMR) process in resolution of issues.
- Coordinate training and evaluate new hires; ensure that evaluations are prepared and conducted.
- Maintain and ensure the safety of all employees through proper training, enforcement of safety rules, and following proper procedures.
- Know company policies and enforce them effectively and in a timely manner.
- Ensure plant compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to production (includes OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, EEO, etc.).
- Develop and implement leadership development and coaching plans for subordinates.
- Prepare performance evaluations for subordinates.
