Job Summary

Troubleshoot, repair, recondition, and service Caterpillar and other Empire allied machines, systems, and power train components in a shop environment.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum six months related experience in a similar role and environment.
  • Proficient rebuilding/repairing machinery including hydraulics, electrical, powertrain, engines, Tier IV Emissions systems, failure analysis procedures, and warranty claims procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain required personal tools.
  • Ability to successfully complete a skills assessment (eTRAIN test).
  • Good communication skills in English (spoken, read, written, and comprehension).
  • Knowledge of diagnostic equipment and computerized instrumentation.

Strongly Preferred: At least five years heavy equipment technician experience, preferably in a dealership environment.

Shift: 1st Day Shift

Location: In-Shop

Schedule: Work schedule provided by leader

Salary Range: $25.80 - $37.08 per hour

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures.
  • Repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
  • Prepare service reports.
  • Plan and control cost of repair jobs.
  • Maintain company equipment in good clean orderly condition.
  • Keep safety a priority and comply with all policies.
  • Maintain client relations and support corporate marketing objectives.
  • Own and maintain required personal tools.
  • Learn and use Empire, Caterpillar, and allied product procedures and systems.
  • Provide on-the-job training to technicians and helpers as assigned.
  • Make warranty recommendations.
  • Communicate with proper individuals to clarify instructions or discuss scope or progress of job.
  • Work overtime and travel to remote locations as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The job requires repetitive sitting, using hands, speaking, hearing, standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting up to 60 pounds. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and loud noise.

Education

High school diploma or GED.
