ABOUT THIS JOB
Position Specific Summary
The Aquatic Maintenance Trade Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise, skilled maintenance, and repair of aquatic facilities and systems. This position ensures that pools, water features, mechanical systems, and related infrastructure operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Aquatic Maintenance Trade Specialist works independently and collaboratively with operations staff to maintain high-quality aquatic environments for public use.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Aquatic Maintenance Coordinator. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Performs skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of aquatic systems, including pumps, filters, heaters, chemical controllers, and plumbing.
* Conducts regular inspections of pools, spas, splash pads, and water features to ensure compliance with safety and health standards.
* Monitors and adjusts chemical levels, ensuring adherence to health department regulations and industry standards.
* Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, water chemistry, repairs, and inspections.
* Assists with capital projects, renovations, and installation of new aquatic systems or equipment.
* Responds to emergencies related to aquatic mechanical or chemical systems.
* Provides technical guidance and support to aquatic operations staff on the use and care of equipment.
* Ensures compliance with occupational safety guidelines and proper use of personal protective equipment.
* Stays current with industry standards, codes, and best practices in aquatic facility maintenance and operations.
* Performs all duties and tasks as assigned.
Working Conditions
* Indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to heat, humidity, and chemicals.
* Frequent lifting (up to 75lbs), bending, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
* Availability for evening, weekend, or holiday work as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience
Two (2) years of relevant experience.
License Requirement:
Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 3 years of experience in aquatic facility maintenance or mechanical trades (pools, spas, or similar environments).
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification required (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
Knowledge of aquatic mechanical systems, water chemistry, and health regulations.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
